Adrian Peterson Granted Thanksgiving Travel After DWI Arrest
UPDATE: Former All-Pro running back Adrian Peterson has been granted permission to travel to Oklahoma for Thanksgiving after a month of legal turmoil stemming from a DWI and weapon arrest. The ruling allows Peterson to spend time with his family from November 23 until December 1, marking a significant shift in his current circumstances.
Court documents obtained by TMZ Sports reveal that Peterson’s attorney successfully petitioned the judge for this travel approval. As part of the conditions of his release, Peterson has agreed to adhere to strict guidelines: he must remain law-abiding, surrender all firearms, avoid illegal substances, submit to random drug testing, and stay within Texas unless granted permission to leave.
The presiding judge approved the travel request on November 14, stipulating that Peterson must report to his pre-trial officer no later than 24 hours after his return from Oklahoma. Additionally, he was permitted to travel to Las Vegas for work-related obligations from November 18 to 20.
Peterson’s legal troubles began on October 26 when he was found asleep behind the wheel of an SUV at a gas station. Upon the arrival of law enforcement, he failed field sobriety tests. The 40-year-old faced serious charges, including DWI and unlawful carrying of a weapon, following a separate incident in Minnesota just six months earlier. In that case, Peterson was pulled over for speeding and recorded a blood alcohol content of .14.
His next court appearance related to the October DWI arrest is scheduled for January, as he navigates the legal repercussions of his recent actions. This Thanksgiving travel approval offers a temporary respite for Peterson, allowing him to reconnect with family amid ongoing challenges.
As the holiday season approaches, Peterson’s case highlights the impact of personal choices on both family life and public image. Fans and followers are watching closely as he balances legal obligations with his desire to spend quality time with loved ones.
