Connecticut Developer Charged with Sexual Assault After Party
UPDATE: A Connecticut developer, Daniel C. Suozzi, has been charged with first-degree sexual assault following a party at his home in Fairfield after a day of boating on May 26, 2023. Authorities report that the incident allegedly occurred as the victim prepared to leave his bedroom.
The arrest, made by the Fairfield Police Department last week, stems from allegations made by a woman known to Suozzi and his wife. The victim claims that after borrowing a swimsuit from the developer’s wife to join a hot tub, she found herself alone with Suozzi. The woman reported that he pushed her against a wall, shocking her into silence.
According to the arrest warrant affidavit, the woman, who reported the incident to police on September 15, alleges that Suozzi made a crude remark before the assault. She managed to push him away and returned downstairs to the party. The victim initially refrained from reporting the incident, fearing it would damage her friendships and believing that Suozzi would seek treatment for acknowledged issues of “depression, sexual compulsion, and drug addiction.”
However, she later discovered that Suozzi only sought treatment for substance abuse, prompting her to go to law enforcement after feeling that he was not taking the situation seriously. The affidavit also notes that Suozzi allegedly claimed they were involved in a sexual relationship, which she vehemently denied.
Suozzi’s attorney, Mark Sherman, defended his client, stating, “This is a single charge based on a 15-second hookup between two fully clothed and consenting friends.” He emphasized that Suozzi maintains his innocence, arguing the encounter was consensual.
The warrant reveals conflicting accounts from witnesses. Suozzi claims the woman was flirtatious throughout the day, while another man present alleged that he walked in on the woman changing and was encouraged by Suozzi to enter the bedroom.
Witnesses described Suozzi as “sexually charged,” noting that his behavior was crude and inappropriate during the gathering. Some attendees also reported that he made vulgar remarks to women in the hot tub, raising concerns about his conduct.
As the legal proceedings unfold, Suozzi remains free on a $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on January 14, 2026. He did not enter a plea at the recent hearing, and the case continues to draw attention amid growing public interest in issues of consent and accountability.
This developing story highlights the urgent need for discussions around sexual misconduct and the implications it has for victims and accused alike. As more details emerge, the community watches closely, awaiting justice in this troubling case.
