The Rolette Record, a weekly newspaper serving the local community, has been sold to Roy B. Miller and Gene Farley, both of Cando. The acquisition, officially announced on November 30, 1929, marks a significant change in ownership for the publication, which has been independently operated since its inception.

Miller, who is the owner and editor of the Cando Record, will oversee the new direction of the Rolette Record while Farley, who has worked as a linotype operator for Miller over the past five years, will take on the role of editor. This transition reflects not only a shift in leadership but also a continuation of the newspaper’s commitment to independent reporting, a principle established by its founder, Charles W. Sibley, 25 years ago.

Under the previous management, E. W. Dickinson served as the managing editor. He will be departing from Rolette, although he has yet to disclose his future plans. The new editorial team aims to maintain the publication’s established identity while exploring new opportunities for growth and community engagement.

The first issue under the new ownership is expected to be published next week, with Joseph Lemieux from Rolette set to assist Farley in editorial tasks. This change represents an important moment for local journalism in the region, as the Rolette Record continues to serve its community with fresh perspectives and dedicated reporting.

As the newspaper embarks on this new chapter, the local farming community, which previously owned the paper, expresses optimism for the future direction of the Rolette Record. The commitment to political independence and community-focused journalism remains a cornerstone of its operations.
