U.S. Senator Cory Booker, a Democrat from New Jersey, married Alexis Lewis in a dual ceremony that took place on March 25, 2024, at a courthouse in Newark and a private event in Washington D.C. This marks a significant personal milestone for the 56-year-old senator as he potentially considers a presidential run in 2028.

The wedding was notable for its interfaith nature, featuring blessings from both a rabbi and a pastor, reflecting the couple’s diverse backgrounds—Booker identifies as Christian, while Lewis is Jewish. The couple expressed their joy in a heartfelt post on Instagram, stating, “Overflowing with gratitude… We said ‘I do’ in two places that shaped us—Cory’s beloved Newark and Alexis’s hometown of Washington, D.C.”

Booker, who began his political career on the Newark City Council in 1998, served as the city’s mayor from 2006 until 2013. He won a special election to the U.S. Senate that same year. Recently, he made headlines for delivering the longest recorded speech in Senate history, lasting 25 hours and 5 minutes, during which he protested the Trump administration. This speech surpassed the previous record held by former Senator Strom Thurmond, who spoke for 24 hours and 18 minutes against the Civil Rights Act of 1957.

Lewis, 38, is a director of investments at Brasa Capital Management, a real estate investment firm based in Los Angeles. She and Booker first met on a blind date in 2024, which reportedly lasted for five hours, leading to their engagement announcement just three weeks prior to their wedding.

As Booker navigates his new marital life, the possibility of a 2028 presidential campaign looms. During a recent trip to New Hampshire, he indicated to Fox News and Axios that he has not ruled out a run for the presidency. His political aspirations are underscored by his previous experience, having campaigned for the Democratic nomination in the 2020 primary. Although he launched his campaign in February 2019, he withdrew by January 2020 and subsequently endorsed Joe Biden. Biden would go on to win the Democratic primary and defeat then-President Donald Trump in the general election.

As the political landscape continues to evolve, Booker’s recent marriage adds a personal dimension to his public persona, reflecting both his commitment to family and his enduring ambition within the political sphere.
