URGENT UPDATE: Sewer construction and repair work has officially commenced in Buffalo’s Fruit Belt neighborhood, according to an announcement from the Buffalo Sewer Authority earlier today. This vital project aims to enhance the aging sewer infrastructure that has long been neglected, with completion anticipated by summer 2026.

The comprehensive plan includes essential services such as pipe cleaning, video inspections, and repairs to both public and private sewer lines. In a significant move towards modernization, the authority will utilize ultraviolet cured-in-place pipe technology to line existing pipes instead of complete replacements, minimizing disruption for residents.

“We are especially proud to be able to use this innovative technology to create renewed infrastructure,” stated Rosaleen Nogle, PE, BCEE, BC.WRE, principal sanitary engineer at the Buffalo Sewer Authority. “Our ongoing mission is to update and improve sewer systems in neighborhoods that have faced decades of neglect.”

Residents are advised to prepare for potential inconveniences, including partial road closures, sidewalk restrictions, limited street parking, and possible intermittent detours throughout the construction period. This proactive measure is crucial to ensure the long-term sustainability of Buffalo’s sewer systems.

As the project progresses, local authorities will continue to provide updates and address community concerns. The immediate impact of this work will not only enhance sanitation and drainage but also aim to restore confidence in the infrastructure that supports daily life in the Fruit Belt.

Stay tuned for more urgent updates as this critical project unfolds.
