Ego Nwodim Shares Gift-Wrapping Tips and Candle Favorites
Ego Nwodim, the acclaimed actor and former cast member of Saturday Night Live, recently shared her insights on holiday gift wrapping and home decor. In collaboration with Scotch Brand for their “Resting Gift Face” campaign, Nwodim revealed her personal struggles with gift wrapping and offered practical tips for achieving an impressive presentation.
Nwodim, speaking from her home in New York City, admitted, “I’m notoriously pretty bad at wrapping gifts.” To combat this challenge, she highlighted a specific type of tape that she has grown fond of: “It’s gonna sound cliché, but get this tape legitimately disappears perfectly into most wrapping papers, and it’s just so neat.” This tape, available at Target, allows even novice gift wrappers to create a polished look.
Gifting Essentials and Candle Love
In addition to her wrapping tape recommendation, Nwodim provided a glimpse into her holiday gifting essentials. She promotes the Scotch Gift Wrap Tape, which comes with dispensers designed specifically for gift wrapping. Nwodim also recommends a set of coordinating gift wraps, including Plaid, Pine, and Starburst designs, as a way to create an aesthetically pleasing stack of presents.
When it comes to home ambiance, Nwodim is an avid fan of candles, particularly those from the brand Boy Smells. Although her favorite scent, De Nimes, has been discontinued, she encourages others to try the limited-edition Starry Spice candle, which features notes of sugar plums, red wine, and incense. “I love a good candle with a strong throw,” she stated, emphasizing her passion for creating a cozy atmosphere during the holiday season.
Nwodim’s love for candles is evident as she admits to stockpiling them, particularly the ones with potent scents. “I have a storage unit full of De Nimes,” she noted, reminiscing about how she initially discovered the fragrance in a coworker’s office.
Personal Touches in Holiday Decor
Beyond wrapping gifts, Nwodim enjoys changing her holiday decor each year. This season, she expressed excitement about decorating with stockings and a Christmas tree, while also exploring specialty shops in New York for unique ornaments. Her playful approach to holiday planning reflects her background in sketch comedy.
“I’m just sort of an improviser,” she explained. “I like not to make anything surrounding the holidays feel like work because I work so much.” Nwodim aims to keep the spirit of joy and ease alive as she prepares for the festivities. Whether it’s enjoying music while decorating or simply adding ornaments to the tree, her philosophy centers on ensuring she is ready in time for the holiday itself.
Overall, Ego Nwodim’s tips for gift wrapping and home decor serve as a reminder that the holiday season can be both enjoyable and stress-free. By focusing on simple yet effective techniques and personal touches, anyone can elevate their holiday gifting experience.
