A police chase involving a stolen vehicle concluded dramatically on December 30, 2025, after the vehicle crossed into Delaware. The pursuit began in Lower Chichester Township, Pennsylvania, following alerts from the local police department’s license plate recognition system.

At around 16:23, officers were informed that a white Mercedes-Benz work van, reported stolen earlier in the day from the City of Chester, was traveling westbound on Ridge Road. The alert prompted a multi-jurisdictional response as police attempted to intercept the vehicle amidst heavy traffic.

The officers managed to keep visual contact with the van as it approached Blueball Avenue, heading toward the Delaware state line. Despite the officers activating their emergency lights to signal a traffic stop, the vehicle allegedly failed to comply and continued into Delaware.

Arrest and Charges Follow

After traveling a short distance into Delaware, the van came to a halt at the intersection of Route 92, where it entered the parking lot of a Wawa convenience store. Two officers executed a felony traffic stop, removing the driver identified as Riyad H. Hussein and a passenger from the vehicle.

Delaware State Police responded to the scene due to jurisdictional constraints and took Hussein into custody. He faces charges in Delaware, which facilitate his extradition back to Pennsylvania. Following his arrest, he posted bail and is now awaiting a hearing for a charge of receiving stolen property in Pennsylvania. The passenger was checked by police and released at the scene.

The incident originated in the 1000 block of West Ridge Road in Linwood, Pennsylvania, and concluded shortly after the vehicle crossed state lines. All charges mentioned are allegations, and any suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
