BREAKING: “Saturday Night Live” just aired a high-energy episode on October 14, 2023, featuring host and musical guest Sabrina Carpenter. In a surprising turn, the show shifted focus from politics to pop culture, captivating viewers with hilarious sketches while delaying the start due to college football.

Carpenter, making her hosting debut, also performed hit songs from her new album, “Man’s Best Friend.” The show kicked off with the return of romantic party crasher Domingo, portrayed by Marcello Hernández. Domingo’s antics took center stage as he rejoined Chloe Fineman‘s character Kelsey, who was planning a special celebration for her husband Matt, played by Andrew Dismukes. The sketch featured the “Kelsquad,” a group of friends singing about a recent trip to Nashville, culminating in the catchy chant, “D, O, M, I, N, G, O, Domingo!”

As the comedic chaos unfolded, Kelsey and Domingo’s escapades led to a humorous confrontation with Matt, who expressed frustration over their loud night out in Nashville. “Kelsey, I’m serious, this is strike six!” he exclaimed, highlighting the personal stakes amid the laughs.

While politics took a backseat, Donald Trump, portrayed by James Austin Johnson, made a comedic appearance discussing his latest podcast adventures. In a satirical twist, Trump joined a group of 12-year-old boys, voiced by Carpenter and other female cast members, on a mock podcast titled “Snack Homiez.” The discussion ranged from “GOATed” vegetables to Halloween candy, with Johnson’s Trump humorously stating, “I’ve never been one for the veggies,” and expressing his fondness for “Ding Dongs.”

In a surprising commentary on current events, Trump’s character referenced the recent commutation of former U.S. Representative George Santos, who was released from a more than seven-year sentence for wire fraud. “The people are marching because they’re happy he’s free, right?” Johnson’s Trump quipped, blending humor with political commentary.

As the live audience laughed and cheered, the episode underscored the show’s ability to blend humor with topical themes, even in a politically charged landscape. “SNL” continues to be a cultural touchstone, offering viewers a blend of entertainment and satire that resonates deeply.

Tune in next week for more laughs and surprises as “Saturday Night Live” keeps the momentum going. This episode is a reminder of the show’s enduring appeal and its capacity to reflect society through comedy.

“SNL” airs weekly on NBC, a division of NBCUniversal, which is also the parent company of NBC News. Don’t miss the latest updates as the show continues to break new ground in both comedy and commentary.
