Palmer Luckey Reveals Urgent ‘China 27’ Strategy for Taiwan

UPDATE: Palmer Luckey, founder of defense startup Anduril, has just revealed a critical internal strategy named “China 27,” which prepares for a potential Chinese invasion of Taiwan as early as 2027. In a recent episode of the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Luckey emphasized that all company initiatives must align with the assumption of an imminent conflict.

Luckey stated, “Anything we are working on needs to be built with the assumption that sometime in 2027, China is going to move on Taiwan.” He acknowledged the uncertainty of his prediction but insisted on the necessity of being prepared. “Imagine how stupid I’ll feel if I spend hundreds of millions of dollars building some new weapon system that I know is not going to come into service until the 2030s,” he said. This sentiment underscores the urgency of the situation.

He believes that while a full-scale invasion may be unlikely, a blockade could be China’s preferred tactic to isolate Taiwan. “The best way to deter that is for Taiwan to have capabilities that make them a very prickly porcupine,” Luckey stated. He mentioned the importance of advanced defense systems, including sea mining capabilities and missile counter-systems, to thwart such efforts.

In a striking move, Luckey disclosed that he recently traveled to Taiwan to deliver “a bunch of missiles and weapon systems that are specifically to counter a Chinese invasion.” This urgent action reflects a proactive approach towards Taiwan’s defense readiness.

Luckey criticized the idea of the United States engaging in direct military conflict, advocating instead for the U.S. to become “the world’s gun store.” He stated that this would involve maintaining a robust inventory of military supplies and ensuring reasonable prices for allies. “What do you need to do to be a good gun store? You got to keep stuff in stock,” he added.

Anduril has emerged as a disruptive force in the defense sector, competing with established prime contractors. The U.S. military is increasingly open to startup-friendly procurement processes. On October 13, U.S. Army Secretary Dan Driscoll declared, “We are going to completely disrupt the system that held the Army back for decades.”

In a significant collaboration, Meta announced in May that it would partner with Anduril to develop next-generation extended reality gear for military applications. This initiative, funded through private capital, aims to save the U.S. military billions. Recently, Anduril unveiled its EagleEye product line, which includes advanced helmets and visors that provide real-time battlefield data.

Anduril is also making strides in drone defense. In March, the company secured a $642 million contract with the U.S. Marine Corps for anti-drone technologies. As of June, Anduril’s valuation reached an impressive $30.5 billion, marking its rapid growth in the defense landscape.
