URGENT UPDATE: A United Airlines Boeing 737 Max has suffered a cracked windshield while flying at an altitude of 36,000 feet, prompting an immediate investigation into the incident. The shocking event occurred during Flight 1093, which took off from Denver on October 17, 2025, bound for Los Angeles.

Just 37 minutes into the flight, near the city of Moab, the aircraft began a steep descent, according to flight data from Flightradar24. Within 10 minutes, the plane abruptly turned north and diverted to Salt Lake City, where it landed safely despite the alarming damage.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has confirmed it is actively investigating the cracked windscreen. In a statement on social media, the NTSB noted it is collecting radar, weather, and flight recorder data, with the damaged windscreen sent to its laboratories for analysis.

Images shared by aviation enthusiast JonNYC on X show what appears to be shattered glass in the cockpit and a bloodied forearm of the captain, suggesting potential injuries. Reports of scorch marks on the aircraft raise the possibility of damage caused by space debris or a meteorite strike, although these claims are yet to be independently verified.

United Airlines has confirmed the incident, stating that the aircraft landed safely in Salt Lake City to address the damage to its multilayered windshield. The airline assured that passenger safety was prioritized and that all individuals on the original flight were transferred to a new plane. The replacement Boeing 737 Max eventually arrived in Los Angeles at 1:12 p.m. PT, approximately five and a half hours behind schedule.

As investigators delve into the details, the aviation community remains on high alert regarding the potential dangers of midair incidents involving space debris. The NTSB’s findings will be crucial in determining the cause and ensuring the safety of future flights.

Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story as authorities continue their investigation into this bizarre midair incident.
