Mundelein’s Paige Prochnow Shines with Record 11 Aces, Perfect ACT
URGENT UPDATE: Mundelein’s star volleyball player, Paige Prochnow, has made headlines with a record-breaking performance, achieving 11 aces in a single match—marking the highest in the program’s history. This remarkable feat occurred during a pivotal game against Warren on September 30, 2025, catapulting her into the spotlight as one of the top players in the state.
Prochnow, a 5-foot-9 senior outside hitter, has not only been a dominant force on the court but also a beacon of positivity and leadership for her team. With an impressive 203 kills, 186 digs, and 51 aces this season, she is a driving force behind the Mustangs’ success, currently holding a record of 18-17. The second-seeded Mustangs are set to face either eighth-seeded McHenry or tenth-seeded Round Lake in the Class 4A McHenry Regional semifinals at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
“My main thing is always staying positive and cheering people on,” Prochnow stated, emphasizing the importance of building confidence among her teammates. Her commitment to team morale was tested when she suffered an ankle injury during a match against New Trier in September 2024. Despite being sidelined, Prochnow maintained her role by supporting teammates from the bench, showcasing her resilience and dedication.
Mundelein coach Jeff Blezien praised Prochnow’s work ethic, stating, “Anything that I’ve ever asked of her, she’s done to the best of her ability.” Her injury taught her valuable lessons about energy and support, which she continues to apply both on and off the court.
Prochnow’s approach is not just about skill; it’s about mindset. “I’m playing a much more aggressive mental game,” she explained. “If everyone plays scared, we’re never going to have a game we feel good about.” This attitude was evident in her record-setting match, where she contributed significantly to her team’s victory.
Beyond her athletic achievements, Prochnow recently excelled academically, earning a perfect score on the ACT. As she looks towards college, she aims to pursue a career in the medical field. “She’s one of the brightest students we have on our team,” Coach Blezien added, noting her commitment to academic excellence.
Prochnow’s energy and leadership have made her an invaluable asset to the Mustangs, and her teammates echo this sentiment. Senior defensive specialist Mellany Rodriguez remarked, “She’s the type of teammate that will lift you up no matter what.” Prochnow’s positivity and determination are vital not only for her team’s performance but also for her own personal growth as she navigates the challenges of senior year.
As the Mustangs prepare for their upcoming regional semifinals, all eyes will be on Paige Prochnow—a player who exemplifies dedication, resilience, and positivity. Fans and supporters are eagerly anticipating her next moves on the court as she continues to make history.
