Pharrell Williams Announces Auction of Iconic Jordans, Nov 6-18
URGENT UPDATE: Music icon and 13-time Grammy winner Pharrell Williams has just announced a highly anticipated auction featuring five exclusive pairs of Air Jordans, set to take place from November 6 through November 18. This auction, hosted by Pharrell’s auction house JOOPITER, follows the record-breaking sale of a signed Michael Jordan rookie card for $2.5 million earlier this year.
This extraordinary collection includes multiple sample pairs, with three being signed and two worn during intense Chicago Bulls playoff games. Among the standout items are game-worn baseball cleats, Air Jordan IXs, gifted to former Orlando Cubs player and NFL tight end Ed Smith. Another highlight is a pair of Air Jordan VIIIs worn in Game 1 of the 1993 NBA Playoffs against the Atlanta Hawks, which were gifted to Michael Jordan’s well-known security guard, John Michael Wozniak, known for his role in the documentary “The Last Dance.”
One of the signed pairs is a sample version of the iconic Jordan Air 1s, while the other two are sample Air Jordan XIs. One pair was worn during the Bulls’ historic 1995-96 season, where they achieved an impressive 72-10 record, and the other during the playoffs when they defeated the Seattle Supersonics in a thrilling six-game series.
Caitlin Donovan, JOOPITER’s Global Head of Sale, stated,
“Each of these shoes reflect a chapter in Michael Jordan’s evolution as not only an athlete, but as a global icon whose influence continues to shape culture.”
The auction not only showcases these rare collectibles but also highlights the powerful connection between sports and cultural significance.
This event is generating buzz among collectors and fans alike, making it a must-watch for anyone interested in sports memorabilia. As the auction date approaches, excitement continues to build around the chance to own a piece of basketball history that resonates deeply with fans worldwide.
For sneakerheads and sports enthusiasts, this is an unmissable opportunity to connect with the legacy of one of basketball’s greatest players. Stay tuned for more updates as the auction dates draw near!
