URGENT UPDATE: A tragic car accident has claimed the life of a beloved Bay Area mother, Ellen Orcutt, who was killed in a head-on collision just down the street from her home in San Jose on October 25. The devastating crash occurred on Foxworthy Avenue, leaving family and friends in shock as they remember her life and legacy.

The incident involved an SUV whose driver was reportedly attempting to pass another vehicle when he crossed into oncoming traffic, colliding head-on with Orcutt’s Honda CRV. Both vehicles flipped over due to the severe impact. Tragically, the SUV driver also died from his injuries on Wednesday morning. Authorities are investigating whether alcohol was a factor in the crash.

“I just lost my best friend and my guiding light in this world,” expressed Joelle Orlando, Orcutt’s daughter, who is devastated by the loss. She emphasized that she wants her mother to be remembered not for the way she died but for the beautiful life she lived. Orcutt was 74 years old and dedicated over 25 years to serving as a social worker at Pacific Clinics, a nonprofit organization providing behavioral and mental health services.

Friends and family describe Orcutt as “kind, generous, and the most selfless person.” Over the years, she became known as the “resource queen,” always ready to help those in need. “She would drive a car full of hygiene kits, clothes, bibles, and bubbles to break up tense situations,” recalled Greg Yoder, a family friend of over 32 years.

Andrew Ford, a coworker at Pacific Clinics, added, “Our world is a little chaotic, but people like Ellen were always there to remind you that life may be chaotic, but you’re ok, and we’re all going to be ok.”

Orcutt’s daughter, Joelle, aims to continue her mother’s mission of helping others. “Not forget how important life is and to cherish every moment that you have because you never know when it’s going to be taken,” she urged.

In a recent email shared by her coworkers, Orcutt reflected on her years of service, stating, “May you all be thankful and with hope for yourselves and those families that come into your life…they have a story to share and so do you. Keep hope alive. Take good care. Ellen.”

As the community mourns this sudden loss, memorial services and tributes are expected in the coming days, marking a profound impact on those who knew her. The investigation into the crash continues as authorities seek to uncover more details about the events leading up to this tragic incident.
