URGENT UPDATE: Tragedy strikes in Fresno County as two sisters are killed in a shocking car crash that occurred on the night of October 24, 2023. The family of the victims is now grappling with the heartbreaking loss as they remember their beloved girls.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the deadly incident unfolded on Belmont Avenue, just west of Brawley Avenue, at approximately 10:30 PM. The driver, 21-year-old Angelina Nino, was allegedly speeding when she failed to stop at a stop sign. The vehicle veered off the road, resulting in a fatal crash that took both lives.

The crash claimed the life of Angelina Nino, while her 14-year-old sister, Rayla Piedra, was rushed to the hospital but tragically succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival. A 27-year-old man who was also in the car sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment in a local hospital.

Family members are heartbroken, as expressed by their aunt, Lorraine Quinonez. “The weight of it all, it’s heavy, because it’s not just one, it’s both of them, both of our baby girls and we all helped raise them,” Quinonez stated in an emotional interview. She emphasized her efforts to remain strong for her sister during this devastating time.

Rayla was eagerly preparing to celebrate her 15th birthday on November 8, a milestone now overshadowed by tragedy. The family is seeking support to lay both sisters to rest, and a GoFundMe page has been set up to assist with funeral expenses.

This tragic event serves as a painful reminder of the dangers of speeding and the impact of reckless driving on families and communities. As the family navigates this unimaginable loss, the community is encouraged to come together to support them during this time of mourning.

Stay tuned for further updates as authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this devastating accident.
