Lafayette’s announcement came via social media, marking him as the second blue-chip prospect to join the Hurricanes in just two days. Lafayette, who hails from Orlando, Florida, chose Miami over offers from prestigious programs such as Florida State and Oklahoma. Previously committed to LSU, the standout player is rated as the No. 36 edge rusher and the No. 391 overall player in the 2026 recruiting class. His performance in high school has garnered attention, with notable statistics from the previous season that include 73 tackles and an impressive 17.5 sacks.

This season, Lafayette has continued to shine on the field, recording 58 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, and 14.5 sacks.
