UPDATE: The Detroit Pistons have just secured their ninth consecutive victory, defeating the Philadelphia 76ers 114-105 at home on November 10, 2023. This marks the Pistons’ longest winning streak since the 2007-08 season, solidifying their position as the top team in the Eastern Conference.

Despite missing All-NBA guard Cade Cunningham for the second game in a row due to a bruised hip, the Pistons showed resilience. Other key players such as Jalen Duren and Tobias Harris were also sidelined due to ankle injuries, while Jaden Ivey remains out recovering from preseason knee surgery.

In a dramatic turn, guard Daniss Jenkins, currently on a two-way contract, delivered a stunning half-court buzzer-beater to end the third quarter, pulling the Pistons within two points and setting the stage for their comeback. Jenkins finished the game with 19 points and 8 assists, engaging in a fierce duel with All-Star guard Tyrese Maxey, who scored 31 points for Philadelphia.

The Pistons’ defensive effort was crucial, holding the 76ers to just 15 points in the fourth quarter after trailing by 12 earlier in the game. Head Coach J.B. Bickerstaff praised his team’s gritty performance, stating,

“We’ve got a bunch of nasty dogs in that locker room, and they love it.”

Returning from injury, Isaiah Stewart contributed significantly with 14 points and 7 rebounds in just 23 minutes. The Pistons demonstrated their shooting prowess with a season-high 17 three-pointers and an impressive shooting percentage of over 41 percent from beyond the arc.

The 76ers were also missing key players, including Joel Embiid due to right knee soreness. The team struggled to find their rhythm, particularly in the final quarter as the Pistons seized control of the game.

The Pistons are now set to pursue their tenth straight victory when they face the Indiana Pacers on Monday. The Pacers currently hold the worst record in the Eastern Conference, presenting an opportunity for Detroit to extend their remarkable streak.

Stay tuned for updates as this thrilling season continues to unfold.
