Alabama Volleyball Secures Senior Day Win Against Missouri
Alabama volleyball concluded its regular season with an impressive victory over Missouri, winning 3-1 on senior day at Foster Auditorium. This win marks the first time since 2021 that the Crimson Tide has secured back-to-back victories in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). The match showcased Alabama’s determination, starting with a 25-17 win in the first set, followed by a setback in the second set. The team rallied, capturing the third set before clinching the match with a narrow 25-23 victory in the fourth.
Victoria Barrett led the Crimson Tide with a standout performance, registering 20 kills, while Hannah Parrant achieved her SEC career high with 49 assists. Coach Rashina Reed expressed pride in her team’s growth throughout the season. “It feels amazing. It just goes to show the growth of this team. They have a relentless mindset and attitude,” Reed stated. She added, “It shows that we’re a team that other teams have to respect, and I’m very proud of these ladies.” The season featured its challenges, yet Reed noted that the team has made history in various ways.
With a final SEC record of 5-10, Alabama achieved its best performance under Reed, ending a streak of six consecutive losing seasons. The team heads into the SEC Tournament with an overall record of 13-12, a significant improvement compared to the combined 4-30 record in conference play over the past two years. As the 13-seed in the tournament, Alabama will face South Carolina in the opening round on November 24, 2023.
Crimson Tide’s Progress and Future Prospects
The recent victory not only highlights Alabama’s resilience but also sets the stage for future competitions. Meanwhile, in women’s basketball, the team is set to play Alabama A&M on November 20, 2023, at Coleman Coliseum.
