Indiana University Football Clings to No. 2 Spot in CFP Rankings
BREAKING: Indiana University football remains in a critical position as they hold onto the No. 2 spot in the College Football Playoff (CFP) rankings. This announcement comes on the heels of their impressive 31-7 victory over Wisconsin last Saturday, cementing their undefeated status at 11-0.
The Hoosiers are set to face Purdue in their final game of the season at 7:30 p.m. on November 28, a matchup known as the Old Oaken Bucket. With a 2-9 record, Purdue will be looking to upset their rivals in a game that could drastically impact playoff seeding.
IU Athletics confirmed in a press release that Indiana has maintained its position among the top playoff contenders for nine consecutive CFP polls, solidifying their status as a contender for the first time in program history. This remarkable achievement marks the 13th time Indiana has found itself in playoff consideration, demonstrating the team’s resilience and skill throughout the season.
The latest rankings also feature strong competition, with Georgia claiming the fourth and final projected first-round bye. Undefeated Ohio State, Indiana, and Texas A&M remain firmly in the top three positions, setting the stage for an intense playoff race.
The College Football Playoff rankings will see updates on November 25 and December 2, with the final 12-team bracket revealed on December 7. The top four teams will receive byes, leading into the playoff which begins on December 19. The first-round games will be hosted on campus, culminating in the title game a month later.
These rankings are pivotal, as they will determine playoff positioning and the potential for teams outside the committee’s top 12 to secure spots. Notably, the playoff format includes assurance for the five best-ranked conference champions, making every game crucial as the season draws to a close.
