URGENT UPDATE: The newly unveiled Cayenne Electric has just been confirmed as the heaviest Porsche ever produced, weighing in at an astonishing 5,831 pounds (2,645 kilograms). This groundbreaking model not only boasts the title of the most powerful production Porsche, unleashing a staggering 1,139 horsepower and 1,106 pound-feet (1,500 Newton-meters) of torque, but it also sets a new benchmark for weight in the brand’s history.

The Turbo variant of the Cayenne Electric surpasses the previous record holder, the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid Coupe, which weighed 5,721 lbs (2,595 kg). The Turbo variant adds an additional 110 lbs (50 kg), cementing its status as the heaviest vehicle ever to roll out of Porsche’s Zuffenhausen factory.

This new electric powerhouse features a massive 113-kWh battery pack that alone accounts for approximately 1,322 lbs (600 kg). For context, that weight is nearly equivalent to an entire classic car: the legendary Porsche 356 SL, which weighed just 1,410 lbs (640 kg) at its peak performance in the 1951 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The Cayenne Electric’s weight, while significant, is not unprecedented in the electric vehicle (EV) market. The Mercedes G-Class weighs a hefty 6,801 lbs (3,084 kg), while the EQS SUV is close behind at 6,792 lbs (3,081 kg). Comparatively, American electric SUVs such as the Cadillac Escalade IQ tip the scales even heavier at a massive 9,134 lbs (4,143 kg).

Porsche’s increasing vehicle weights reflect a broader trend in the automotive market, especially in the SUV segment. The original 2002 Cayenne, developed under Ferdinand Piëch, was also far from lightweight at 5,191 lbs (2,355 kg) in its Turbo S trim. With a new three-row SUV still on the horizon—initially planned as an electric model—the trend of rising weight could continue, especially when a seven-seat configuration is considered.

As the automotive landscape evolves, the Cayenne Electric Turbo represents a significant leap for Porsche, blending high performance with unprecedented heft. Car enthusiasts and industry experts alike are closely monitoring how this model will influence future designs and specifications.

Stay tuned for more updates as Porsche and the electric vehicle sector continue to innovate and redefine power and performance standards in the automotive industry.
