Clara Barton Medical Center Achieves National Recognition for Patient Care
Clara Barton Medical Center in Hoisington has received the prestigious 2025 Performance Leadership Award for excellence in Patient Perspective, as part of the celebrations for National Rural Health Day. This honor, awarded by the Chartis Center for Rural Health, recognizes hospitals that rank in the top quartile for performance metrics related to quality, outcomes, and patient experience.
The Performance Leadership Awards are determined through the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance Index, which provides a comprehensive framework for assessing the operational effectiveness of rural hospitals. This index is used by hospitals, health systems, and relevant associations to benchmark performance across various operational and financial areas.
Significance of the Award
Michael Topchik, executive director of the Chartis Center for Rural Health, emphasized the importance of this recognition. “The areas of quality, outcomes, and patient perspective are cornerstones of health-care delivery across rural America,” he noted. “This year’s recipients are setting a standard of excellence for their rural peers to follow.”
Clara Barton Medical Center was among only 28 hospitals in Kansas to receive this award, highlighting its commitment to quality care in a rural setting. President and CEO Jay Tusten expressed pride in the achievement, stating, “It is an honor to be recognized for our commitment to customer service. Our staff consistently goes above and beyond to create a welcoming and supportive health-care environment. We deeply appreciate their efforts and thank Chartis for celebrating that dedication.”
