UPDATE: A 19-year-old from Cold Spring, NY, has been arrested in connection with a shocking burglary at Haldane School that occurred on November 4, 2025. Authorities have confirmed that the suspect, Kristjan V. Holmbo, unlawfully entered the school and stole prescription medications from the nurse’s office, escalating an already serious situation.
The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office launched an immediate investigation following the break-in, collaborating closely with School Resource Officers. Just last week, on November 13, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Holmbo’s residence, leading to his arrest and subsequent charges.
Holmbo faces a series of serious allegations including:

– Petit Larceny (Class A Misdemeanor)
– Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fifth Degree (Class A Misdemeanor)

– Tampering with Physical Evidence (Class E Felony)
The investigation revealed that Holmbo is also linked to a previous attempted burglary at a local pharmacy on June 18, 2025. In that incident, he failed to gain access but was later identified through evidence collected during this ongoing investigation. For that case, he has been charged with Attempted Burglary in the Third Degree (Class E Felony) and Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree (Class D Felony).
“This is a serious matter that impacts our community,” stated Putnam County Sheriff Brian Hess. He expressed gratitude towards Haldane School and its resource officers for their vital assistance in resolving the case swiftly.
As the investigation continues, local residents are urged to remain vigilant. This incident underscores the importance of school safety and community awareness. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story, as authorities work to ensure justice is served and safety is restored.
The implications of this case resonate deeply within the community, highlighting the urgent need for proactive measures to prevent such incidents in the future. Parents and students alike are encouraged to engage with school officials and law enforcement to foster a safer environment for all.
