Townsend Library Hosts Enchanting Nutcracker Ballet Story Time
Families in Townsend can look forward to a magical evening as the Townsend Public Library hosts a special “Nutcracker Ballet Story Time” on Tuesday, November 25, 2023. The event is set to begin at 18:00 at the library, located at 12 Dudley Road, and promises an enchanting experience for children and parents alike.
Dancers from the North Central Youth Ballet (NCYB) will perform excerpts from their upcoming production of The Nutcracker. Clad in festive costumes, the dancers will bring the beloved holiday tale to life while a narrator shares the story, creating a captivating atmosphere. This event not only aims to entertain but also to foster an appreciation for the arts among young audiences.
Celebrating Community and Dance
The North Central Youth Ballet, a nonprofit organization, is dedicated to providing young dancers with professional ballet experiences. The company brings together talent from various studios, promoting collaboration and artistry through community performances. The directors, Karen Brown and Megan Simisky, have extensive backgrounds in ballet and a shared commitment to nurturing young talent.
Following the story time, the NCYB will stage full performances of The Nutcracker at North Middlesex Regional High School on December 5 at 18:00 and twice on December 6 at noon and again at 18:00. These performances are set to showcase the dancers’ skills and provide the audience with an unforgettable holiday experience.
Creating Joy and Anticipation
According to Megan Simisky, co-founder and director of NCYB, experiencing ballet live is an exhilarating event. She states, “When you watch ballet in person, it creates excitement, inspires true joy, and makes you feel like you participated just by seeing. That feeling, the holiday anticipation, and the combination of all our amazing community participation help make this production the best way to kick-off your season!”
For those interested in attending the story time, registration is available on the Townsend Public Library website at www.townsendlibrary.org. Tickets for the performances of The Nutcracker can be purchased by visiting www.northcentralyouthballet.com. This festive event not only celebrates the art of ballet but also strengthens community bonds through shared cultural experiences.
