Nuggets’ Aaron Gordon Out 4-6 Weeks with Hamstring Injury
UPDATE: Denver Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon has been diagnosed with a Grade 2 right hamstring strain and will be sidelined for at least 4-6 weeks, sources confirm to ESPN. This injury marks a significant setback for the Nuggets, who face mounting challenges as they navigate the season.
Gordon sustained the injury during a road victory against the Houston Rockets on November 10, 2023, and underwent an MRI the following day, which confirmed the severity of the damage. The Nuggets are now grappling with the loss of two starters, as Christian Braun is also expected to miss a minimum of six weeks due to an ankle sprain he suffered on November 12, 2023.
Earlier this season, Gordon made headlines by scoring a career-high 50 points in the opening game against the Golden State Warriors, becoming one of just six players to achieve such a feat in an opener. Currently, he is averaging a career-best 18.8 points per game and boasts a remarkable 44.4% shooting percentage from beyond the arc.
This injury comes as Gordon was already managing bilateral hamstring issues. Last season, he played through a similar injury during the critical Western Conference semifinals against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Nuggets, holding a record of 12-4 and currently ranked second in the Western Conference, will need to adapt quickly to this latest blow.
In response to these injuries, the Nuggets have bolstered their roster depth during the offseason. They will now look to fourth-year forward Peyton Watson to step up alongside key new additions including Cam Johnson, Bruce Brown, Tim Hardaway Jr., and Jonas Valanciunas.
As the Nuggets prepare for their next matchup, fans and analysts alike will be keeping a close eye on how the team copes without two of its key players. The urgency of the situation is palpable, as the Nuggets aim to maintain their strong start to the season amidst these challenges.
Stay tuned for further updates on Gordon’s recovery and the impact on the Nuggets’ season.
