UPDATE: The Memphis Grizzlies are set to sign guard Kobe Bufkin under a 10-day hardship exception, according to sources confirmed by ESPN. This move comes as the Grizzlies face a significant injury crisis, with stars Ja Morant, Scotty Pippen Jr., Brandon Clarke, and Ty Jerome sidelined for multiple weeks. Additionally, Jaren Jackson Jr. is currently out due to an ankle sprain.

The urgency of this signing is heightened as the Grizzlies, with a record of 6-11, aim to build momentum after securing their second consecutive victory against the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday night. Bufkin is expected to make his debut in the pivotal home game against the Denver Nuggets on Monday.

Bufkin, the No. 15 pick in the 2023 draft, is being called up from the Los Angeles Lakers‘ South Bay G League team. In just two G League games this season, he has impressively averaged 22 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 5 assists. Before this opportunity, Bufkin played two seasons with the Atlanta Hawks and was traded to the Brooklyn Nets during the offseason, but was waived after training camp.

This latest development not only reinforces the Grizzlies’ commitment to bolstering their roster amid ongoing injuries but also highlights Bufkin’s potential to impact the team’s performance as they seek to recover from a rocky start to the season.

Fans and analysts alike are keenly watching how this signing will alter the dynamics of the team as they prepare for a crucial matchup against the Nuggets. Stay tuned for updates as the situation develops.
