Wisconsin Woman Who Stabbed Classmate Goes Missing After Cutting Tracker
URGENT UPDATE: A Wisconsin woman, Morgan Geyser, who was convicted of nearly fatally stabbing a classmate in 2014 to appease the fictional character Slender Man, is now missing after removing her electronic monitoring device. Authorities in Madison issued an alert on Sunday, confirming Geyser was last seen around 8 p.m. on Saturday with an adult acquaintance.
The Madison Police Department is urging the public to assist in locating Geyser, who cut off her Department of Corrections monitoring bracelet before fleeing a group home where she had been placed earlier this year. “If you see Geyser, please call 911,” the alert stated, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.
Now 23 years old, Geyser was granted conditional release from the Winnebago Mental Health Institute earlier this year after being confined there since 2018. She had pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree intentional homicide in a plea deal that spared her from prison time. Her friend, Anissa Weier, had similarly pleaded guilty to attempted second-degree intentional homicide in the shocking case that drew national attention.
In 2014, when both girls were just 12 years old, they lured their classmate Payton Leutner to a park in suburban Milwaukee after a sleepover, where Geyser stabbed her more than a dozen times. The brutal attack was motivated by a belief that they needed to become Slender Man’s servants, fearing harm would come to their families if they did not comply. Remarkably, Leutner survived the attack and has since been recovering.
Slender Man, a creation of online folklore attributed to Eric Knudson in 2009, has since become a prominent figure in internet culture, appearing in various media, including video games, online stories, and a feature film.
Weier was released from the psychiatric center in 2021, while Geyser’s latest disappearance raises significant concerns regarding her mental health and public safety. Geyser’s attorney, Tony Cotton, did not respond to requests for comment about her situation.
This developing story has implications not only for the local community but also for discussions surrounding mental health and the impact of internet culture on youth behavior. Authorities are continuing their search, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
For anyone with information regarding Geyser’s whereabouts, authorities stress the importance of contacting law enforcement immediately. The case remains under active investigation, and community members are urged to stay vigilant.
