Frontier Airlines to Cease Operations at Palm Springs Airport

Frontier Airlines is set to end its services at Palm Springs International Airport effective November 29, 2023. The budget airline has cited shifting travel demand and ongoing adjustments within the aviation industry as the primary reasons for this decision. Frontier previously operated flights connecting Palm Springs to Denver and San Francisco, which served thousands of travelers heading to and from the Coachella Valley each month.

A spokesperson for Frontier Airlines reassured passengers that other flight options remain available. “Palm Springs International Airport is not losing any nonstop destinations following Frontier’s decision to cease operations at PSP effective November 29,” the spokesperson stated. The routes to Denver and San Francisco will continue to be available year-round through other carriers, including United Airlines and Southwest Airlines for Denver, and United and Alaska Airlines for San Francisco.

Despite the withdrawal from Palm Springs, the airline is expanding its route network across the country. Last week, Frontier launched a nonstop service from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in Florida, with flights operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Looking ahead, the budget carrier plans to introduce four new routes across seven airports starting in January 2024.

New Jersey, Florida, Illinois, Utah, and Arizona will see additional flights beginning in January. Notably, a three-weekly nonstop service will commence between Newark Liberty International Airport and Orlando International Airport on January 21, 2024. The following day, a twice-weekly nonstop service will launch connecting Salt Lake City International Airport and Tucson International Airport.

In February, Frontier will further expand its operations with new routes linking Miami International Airport to Chicago O’Hare International Airport, and Orlando International Airport to Pensacola International Airport. To celebrate these new routes, the airline will offer introductory fares starting at just $29.
