Cast of Landman Reveals Secrets Behind Oil Scenes for Season 2
As anticipation builds for the second season of the television series Landman, cast members Jacob Lofland and Paulina Chávez recently shared insights into the unconventional substance they encounter on set. The show, which explores the complexities of the oil industry, returns to screens on November 16, 2025, exclusively for subscribers of Paramount+.
In advance of the new season, Lofland, who portrays Cooper, and Chávez, who plays Ariana, discussed their experiences with the fake oil used during filming. The pair humorously compared the substance to KY Jelly and confirmed it is actually made from glycerin. Lofland recounted, “I always made the joke that it was KY Jelly, because it felt exactly like some kind of water-based…”
Chávez promptly corrected him, stating, “Oh, it’s glycerin.” Their lighthearted exchange highlighted the reality of working with a material that is both sticky and difficult to remove.
The actors revealed that after intense scenes involving the oil, cleaning it off can be a challenging task. Lofland explained, “It stayed in my hair for at least three days. We got it out. Eventually, it wore itself off.” This insight offers a glimpse into the physical demands placed on the cast as they navigate the gritty world depicted in Landman.
Season 2 Promises More Action and Intrigue
The upcoming season is set against a backdrop of shifting power dynamics within the oil industry, particularly following the dramatic events of Season 1. The death of Monty has left a significant impact, and Lofland’s character, Cooper, is described as “playing with the devil’s money,” a phrase teased in the latest trailer.
Fans of the series can expect epic scenes involving oil, as highlighted in the trailers and promotional images. Both Lofland and Chávez expressed excitement about the new adventures their characters will undertake. “It was really fun to let just rain down oil,” Lofland said, indicating the thrill of filming those high-stakes moments.
With the narrative expanding, there’s hope for deeper character development, particularly for Cooper. As the plot evolves, viewers will see how he navigates his ambitions in a treacherous environment. The stakes are high, and the oil serves as both a literal and metaphorical element in the challenges he faces.
The series, created by Taylor Sheridan, is known for its gripping storytelling and complex characters. As Season 2 unfolds, audiences can look forward to a blend of drama and action that reflects the harsh realities of the oil industry.
For fans eager to see how Cooper’s journey unfolds, Landman will premiere on November 16, with new episodes airing weekly on Paramount+. The excitement surrounding this return suggests that the series will continue to captivate audiences with its vivid portrayal of the challenges and triumphs within the oil sector.
