Courtney Barnett Unveils Blood-Soaked Video for New Single
Courtney Barnett has made a striking return to the music scene with the release of her new single “Stay In Your Lane” on October 15, 2023. This marks her first new material since her instrumental album, End Of The Day, which debuted earlier this year. The single showcases Barnett’s signature sound, featuring a catchy guitar riff and introspective lyrics that reflect her artistic journey.
The chorus highlights a personal struggle, with Barnett singing, “Gotta get this off my chest / This never would’ve happened if I stayed in my lane, stayed the same way.” The accompanying music video, however, is not for the faint-hearted. It includes graphic imagery, underscoring the emotional intensity of the song.
In addition to the single and video release, Barnett is scheduled to perform “Stay In Your Lane” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on October 22, adding to the excitement surrounding her comeback. Although she has not yet announced a new album, Barnett hinted at its development earlier this year.
In a Guitar World interview, she expressed the challenges of navigating her musical direction, stating, “Sometimes I find it hard to know [where I’m going musically] because I’m so into it.” She mentioned that she is currently in the final stages of completing her new album, describing it as a varied collection of songs influenced by her mood and energy. Barnett noted, “It’s getting close and it’s feeling good: I’m feeling excited about it being a journey.”
Looking ahead, Barnett is set to embark on a tour in 2025. One of the confirmed dates includes a performance on November 15 in Hobart, Australia, at the Odeon Theatre as part of the triple j 50 On Tour event.
With “Stay In Your Lane,” Barnett not only reaffirms her place in the music industry but also teases the promise of further artistic exploration in her upcoming work. As fans eagerly anticipate her new album and live performances, Barnett’s bold return is sure to resonate with audiences around the world.
