In a recent discussion, Jennifer Lawrence revealed some unexpected challenges she faced while filming the acclaimed movie Die My Love, directed by Lynne Ramsay. During a podcast appearance on Entertainment Weekly, she expressed her frustrations with one of her co-stars—an energetic dog that significantly impacted her experience on set.

Dog’s Barking Creates Set Challenges

While discussing the film’s intricate story and artistic inspirations, Lawrence noted that the barking of the dog became a significant source of annoyance. The canine plays an essential role, contributing to her character’s mental decline throughout the film. Lawrence candidly stated, “That dog annoyed the s— out of me,” highlighting her struggles with the seemingly endless barking.

Robert Pattinson, her co-star, chimed in with an interesting theory. He suggested that the dog’s excessive barking might have stemmed from its nervousness, potentially exacerbated by Lawrence’s perceived judgment. “I think one of the reasons the dog was barking so much is ’cause it was very upset by how much you were judging it. It was very nervous from day one,” Pattinson explained.

Adjustments on Set for Filming

Lawrence humorously acknowledged her preference for cats over dogs, while Pattinson defended the dog’s temperament, describing it as sweet. He pointed out that during the filming process, the dog had to remain still for extended periods, particularly during script rewrites to accommodate its presence. “To accommodate the barking,” Lawrence added, emphasizing the unique challenges they faced.

In addition to the dog, the actors also had to adapt to working with two newborn twins on set. Lawrence mentioned the difficulties of filming with infants, noting, “So we had to recalibrate a lot. Normally, you could just plop a baby in a car seat, and the twins were like, hell no, I hate that thing.”

Despite these challenges, Die My Love has received critical acclaim, boasting a 73% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The film has been praised not only for its narrative but also for the strong performances by its lead actors. Lawrence and Pattinson’s candid discussion highlights the often-unseen complexities of filmmaking, revealing that even the most chaotic moments can lead to memorable experiences.
