Sony Offers Three Months of PlayStation Plus Premium with PS5 Purchase
Sony has introduced a limited-time offer that provides new purchasers of the PlayStation 5 (PS5) and PS5 Pro with three months of PlayStation Plus Premium at no extra cost. This promotion aims to offset the recent price increase of the consoles, which rose by $50 in August 2023, making the gaming experience slightly more affordable.
Starting from October 10, 2023, buyers of either PS5 model will automatically receive this subscription benefit during the console setup process. The offer is accessible regardless of the retailer, as no promotional code is required. Typically, three months of PlayStation Plus Premium costs $49.99, effectively providing substantial savings for new users.
Details of the Promotion
The promotional period extends until October 21, 2023, during which new subscribers must activate their consoles to qualify for the offer. Specifically, users need to set up their PS5 or PS5 Pro online by the cutoff date. Notably, players selecting the Essential or Extra tiers during activation will not be eligible; they must opt for the Premium tier to take advantage of this deal.
Existing PlayStation Plus subscribers can also benefit from this promotion. They will receive a link within the first five days of activating their new PS5, allowing them to redeem the offer by October 30, 2023. For those upgrading to the PS5 Pro, any remaining subscription time will automatically convert to the Premium tier, adding the three additional months to their existing subscription.
Pricing and Future Promotions
As of now, the PS5 Pro retails at $749, while the standard PS5 without a disc drive is priced at $499. The version featuring a disc drive costs $549, and refurbished models start at $399. Importantly, this offer applies to all PS5 purchases, including bundles such as the latest Ghost of Yotei or NBA 2K26 editions.
With the holiday shopping season approaching, it is likely that Sony and various retailers will unveil additional hardware promotions in the coming months. This current offer may be particularly appealing for those considering a PS5 purchase while seeking to save on subscription services.
Moreover, subscribers to PlayStation Plus Premium can look forward to a robust lineup of games in October. Notable titles being added include Yakuza: Like a Dragon, the Silent Hill 2 remake, Tekken 3, and the remake of Until Dawn. The Essential tier will feature games such as Alan Wake 2, Goat Simulator 3, and Cocoon.
While day-one releases on PlayStation Plus may not match those of competitors like Game Pass, the service continues to deliver a selection of acclaimed titles that enhance the gaming experience for subscribers.
