Sullivan County Library Unveils Diverse Events for All Ages

The Sullivan County Public Library is hosting a variety of engaging events across its five locations, catering to children, teens, families, and adults. These activities aim to foster community involvement and provide educational opportunities, ensuring there is something for everyone.

Children’s and Family Events

A range of programs designed for children and families are scheduled throughout the week. On **Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.**, the Bloomingdale branch will feature the **Baby Bookworms Sing and Play Storytime**, welcoming infants up to age 2 along with their caregivers. Later that day, at **4 p.m.**, the Thomas Memorial branch will kick off the **Magic Tree House Book Club**, beginning with the book “Sunset of the Sabertooth.” No RSVP is necessary for participation.

Midweek, on **Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.**, the Colonial Heights branch will host a **Children’s Classics Book Club** where Daniel will read “The Indian in the Cupboard” to children aged 8-12. Following this, a session on **Cryptozoology** will take place on **Thursday at 1:30 p.m.**, exploring mysterious creatures of the world.

Thursday will also offer a chance to unwind with **Annie the Therapy Dog** at **4 p.m.**, inviting participants to practice reading skills or simply enjoy time with the comforting presence of a dog. To participate, RSVP is required either in person, by phone, or through the library’s online calendar.

The week for families wraps up with a **Bingo Night** on **Monday, November 10, at 4 p.m.** at the Bloomingdale branch, featuring free games for those aged 12 and over. Additionally, **Mike Chesman**, a retired Bays Mountain Planetarium director, will lead an outdoor astronomy program on the same day at **6:30 p.m.** at the Colonial Heights branch.

Adult Programming and Resources

The library also provides numerous resources and events tailored for adults. Regular **Geri-Fit** classes focus on fitness for seniors, held at the Blountville branch on Mondays and Thursdays at **10 a.m.** and Wednesdays at **3:30 p.m.** The Thomas Memorial branch offers Geri-Fit on Saturdays at **10 a.m.**

For those interested in arts and crafts, an **Autumn Mason Jar Lights** workshop will take place at the Blountville branch on **Monday at 6 p.m.**, with another session on **Wednesday at 11:30 a.m.** Participants can register online or by calling **423-279-2714**.

A crucial event for seniors will occur on **Tuesday, November 10, at 2 p.m.** when Detective **Jared Glover** from the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department will present on identifying scams targeting seniors. This informative session requires no prior registration.

The week concludes with a creative opportunity on **Friday at 10:30 a.m.** at the Bloomingdale branch, where participants can craft an **Autumn Leaf Garland**.
