Thousands Gather at Holy Hill for St. Thérèse Relics This Weekend
Thousands of visitors are expected at Holy Hill in Hubertus, Wisconsin, this weekend to view the relics of Saint Thérèse, a significant figure in the Catholic faith. The relics, which are considered holy remains, will be on display at the Basilica from March 15 to March 19, 2024. The first full Mass featuring the relics is scheduled for Saturday at 16:30 as part of a broader tour that previously included stops in Siberia and Mongolia.
Celebrating Faith and Community
The arrival of Saint Thérèse’s relics has generated excitement among the faithful. Fr. Michael-Joseph Paris expressed the sentiment many feel, stating, “She’s seen as a powerful friend of God and can help us. And that’s what we need so much right now, to know that we’re loved, protected and that we can trust.” This visit underscores the relevance of Thérèse’s teachings, which encourage believers to embrace their vulnerabilities and deepen their faith.
Many attendees have shared their thoughts on the unique atmosphere at Holy Hill. Norma Marchesy described her experience, noting, “It’s a sense of peace. You can’t beat this view. There is something about this place that is uplifting—it really is.” This sentiment resonates with visitors from various backgrounds, who often describe the location as possessing a magical quality.
A Warm Welcome for All
Visitors to Holy Hill have come from near and far, eager to experience the spiritual significance of the relics. Lisa Rodriguez traveled from Pennsylvania with her husband and shared, “I love it! Everyone has been super kind. It’s beautiful really.” Similarly, Ann Reyes and her aunt Vi journeyed from Chicago, expressing their gratitude for the opportunity to visit. “I feel so grateful and thankful that I’m blessed with all of the blessings that I received,” Vi said. “I’m so happy to see Holy Hill again!”
Organizing such an event requires considerable preparation and effort from the staff at Holy Hill. They recognize the impact of the relics on those seeking hope and connection. The effort is deemed worthwhile when witnessing the emotional responses of attendees as they engage with the relics of Saint Thérèse.
As the weekend unfolds, the Basilica at Holy Hill is set to become a focal point for thousands, offering a space for reflection, community, and spiritual renewal. This event not only highlights the enduring legacy of Saint Thérèse but also serves as a reminder of the shared faith and solidarity among attendees.
