SanDisk Launches World’s Smallest 1TB USB-C Flash Drive
SanDisk has unveiled the Extreme Fit USB-C, claiming it to be the world’s smallest USB-C flash drive with a capacity of one terabyte. This compact device features a unique design and impressive transfer speeds, making it a significant addition to the market for portable storage solutions.
Compact Design and High Performance
The SanDisk Extreme Fit USB-C is designed specifically for USB-C ports, enabling read speeds of up to 400 megabytes per second. This performance is made possible through the USB 3.2 Gen 1 connection standard, which means that users will need compatible hardware to take full advantage of its speed.
Measuring just 18.5 x 15.7 x 13.60 millimeters and weighing a mere three grams, the device is engineered to be unobtrusive. Its low profile ensures that it does not extend beyond the thickness of most current laptops, which reduces the risk of accidental damage. The unique vertical design allows users to leave the drive connected without concerns about it breaking off.
Storage Options and Market Context
In addition to the one terabyte model, SanDisk offers the Extreme Fit USB-C in smaller capacities of 64 GB, 128 GB, 256 GB, and 512 GB. The recommended retail price for the one terabyte variant in the United States is set at $119.99. Notably, the basic model with 64 GB capacity achieves lower transfer speeds of 300 MB/s.
SanDisk backs all versions with a five-year manufacturer’s warranty, highlighting their commitment to quality. As the demand for NAND flash memory continues to rise, experts indicate that consumers may need to act quickly when purchasing memory products. Current market trends suggest that prices are likely to increase significantly due to ongoing supply shortages.
The introduction of the Extreme Fit USB-C reflects SanDisk’s efforts to remain competitive in a rapidly evolving technology landscape. With its compact design and robust performance, this flash drive is poised to attract users seeking reliable and efficient portable storage solutions.
