The Tennessee Volunteers are regrouping during their bye week following a tough loss to the Oklahoma Sooners, which significantly impacted their playoff aspirations. The Volunteers, now at a bowl-eligible level, are preparing for their final three games of the regular season. They will host New Mexico State on November 4, before traveling to Florida to face the Gators, and concluding their season at home against in-state rival Vanderbilt.

Defensive lineman Daevin Hobbs addressed the media on Wednesday, reflecting on the team’s performance against Oklahoma. “We came out and played good for the most part,” Hobbs stated. “I feel like we played really good that game as a defense, and that’s the whole team too. But as a defense mainly, I feel like we locked in that week during practice and made everything on point. Then we went out there and played a solid game.”

Hobbs, a native of North Carolina, has faced some injury challenges throughout the season. Nevertheless, when he is healthy, his impact on the field is substantial. As the Volunteers approach the end of the season, the team will rely on Hobbs to deliver strong performances in their remaining games.

Focus on Improvement and Team Mentality

The defensive lineman emphasized the importance of maintaining a positive mindset throughout the season. “There really isn’t any psyching yourself up,” he explained. “We came here to play football. We work on our game, so every practice is another opportunity to get better, and every lift is another opportunity to get better.”

Hobbs stressed that this focus on improvement is essential, regardless of the circumstances of the season. “If you have that mindset, which everybody should throughout the whole year, you just keep thinking like that. You better yourself, and then the better you are, the better the team will be.”

As the Volunteers head into the final stretch of the regular season, the collective aim is clear: to finish strong and secure a favorable bowl game. With Hobbs leading the defensive front, the team will look to build momentum in their upcoming matchups.
