Arlene Hartman, Beloved Community Member, Passes at 87
BREAKING: Arlene Hartman, a cherished resident of Telford and former long-time member of Sellersville, has passed away at the age of 87. She died on November 25, 2025, at the Lutheran Community at Telford, leaving behind a legacy of love and community service.
A devoted wife to the late Glenn Hartman, Sr., for 65 years until his death in 2023, Arlene was the heart of her family. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara A. Nemecek, and her husband, James, along with her sister, Margie Derstine, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will deeply miss her.
Arlene Hartman was well-known in the community for her active involvement at St. Michael’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sellersville, where she dedicated over 60 years of service. Her contributions included singing in the church choir and leading the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (WELCA) for 25 years.
Throughout her life, Arlene worked at various local establishments, including the Lutz Pants Factory and Emil’s Diner. She also served as a consultant for Mary Kay and Avon before retiring as a cashier from Clemens Markets in 1997.
Known for her vibrant personality, Arlene enjoyed gardening, caring for her cats, antiquing, and traveling. Her love for sports shone through her fandom for the Phillies, and she cherished hobbies such as collecting stamps and square dancing.
A viewing will take place from 10 a.m. to 10:55 a.m. on December 5, 2025, at St. Michael’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, located at 25 E. Church St., Sellersville, PA 18960. The funeral service will commence at 11 a.m., with a livestream option available for those unable to attend in person. Following the service, Arlene will be interred at Sellersville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Arlene’s name can be made to St. Michael’s Lutheran Church. Arrangements are being handled by the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home.
This news comes as a significant loss to the community, where Arlene was not just a member but a pillar of support and kindness. Her impact will be felt for years to come as family and friends come together to celebrate her vibrant life.
