AT&T Settles $177 Million Data Breach Case—Claim Your Money NOW!

UPDATE: AT&T has just announced a landmark settlement of $177 million following two major data breaches affecting millions of customers. Consumers impacted by these breaches have until December 18, 2024, to file a claim for their share of the compensation.

This urgent matter comes after lawsuits were consolidated against the telecommunications giant, which revealed that sensitive customer information, including Social Security numbers and call records, was compromised. Plaintiffs allege that AT&T “repeatedly failed” to safeguard consumer data, leading to widespread concerns.

AT&T maintains its innocence, stating, “We have agreed to this settlement to avoid the expense and uncertainty of protracted litigation.” The company also emphasized its commitment to protecting customer data and rebuilding trust.

The breaches in question were disclosed earlier this year, impacting approximately 7.6 million current and 65.4 million former account holders. The first breach, revealed in March 2024, involved customer data dating back to 2019, which AT&T discovered had been released on the “dark web.” The second breach included call and text records from nearly all AT&T customers from May to October 2022, with notifications sent out starting in July 2024.

Eligible consumers could receive up to $5,000 for the first breach and up to $2,500 for the second breach. Customers may also qualify as “overlap settlement class members,” potentially entitling them to payments from both funds. Final amounts will depend on documented losses and the total number of claims received, with a court hearing for final approval set for January 15, 2026.

Consumers must act quickly, as the deadline for filing claims is just over a month away. Claims can be submitted online or via mail. For more information, visit the Kroll Settlement Administration’s website. Class members also have the option to opt-out or voice objections before November 17, 2024.

This settlement represents a significant opportunity for affected customers to reclaim some of their losses. The time to act is NOW—don’t miss your chance to file a claim!
