California Man, 19, Indicted for Animal Crushing, Exploitation
BREAKING: A federal grand jury has indicted Tony Christopher Long, a 19-year-old from Porterville, California, on multiple serious charges, including animal crushing and sexual exploitation of a minor. The indictment, returned on October 26, 2023, reveals shocking allegations that Long is linked to a violent extremist group known as “764.”
The indictment details two counts of animal crushing, sexual exploitation of a minor, and several other offenses, including cyberstalking and transmitting interstate threats. Long is currently held in state custody on related charges as investigations continue.
According to the indictment, the animal cruelty incidents occurred in Tulare County on or around November 4 and December 4, 2023. The acts of animal crushing involve deliberately inflicting severe injury or death to animals, as defined by Cornell Law School. Long allegedly exploited a juvenile victim from Washington state during this time and issued cyber threats against another juvenile in Kern County, California.
“This defendant allegedly engaged in acts of extreme cruelty by exploiting a child, abusing animals, and threatening violence,” said Attorney General Pam Bondi. She emphasized that groups like “764” aim to terrorize communities by preying on vulnerable individuals, especially minors.
This indictment highlights a troubling trend involving violent extremist organizations (NVEs) such as “764,” which the Department of Justice (DOJ) describes as engaging in crimes that undermine societal stability. “The FBI has no tolerance for anyone who preys on children or other vulnerable members of society,” stated FBI Director Kash Patel, reaffirming their commitment to investigate these heinous acts.
If convicted, Long faces a potential sentence of up to 30 years for the sexual exploitation charge alone. The total of six counts could lead to a staggering 76 years in prison, plus fines of up to $250,000 for each charge.
U.S. Attorney Eric Grant underscored the urgency of this case, stating, “My office will vigorously investigate and prosecute offenses committed by NVE groups, including those alleged to have been committed by Long against young and vulnerable victims.”
This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a national initiative launched by the DOJ to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse, demonstrating the government’s dedication to eradicating these crimes.
As the investigation unfolds, authorities urge anyone with information regarding similar activities to come forward. The vigilance of law enforcement agencies remains critical in safeguarding vulnerable communities from such acts of violence and exploitation.
