Cole Rosina Leads Bordentown to 3-1 Victory Over Westampton Tech
UPDATE: In a thrilling showdown, Bordentown’s Cole Rosina scored twice in the second half to propel the Scotties past Westampton Tech with a final score of 3-1 on October 17, 2025. This crucial victory solidifies Bordentown’s status as a powerhouse in the Burlington County Scholastic League.
The match kicked off at 4:00 PM in Bordentown, where the Scotties, now boasting a record of 13-1, initially struggled to find their rhythm. The game remained scoreless at halftime, leaving Bordentown coach Mike Brennan reflecting on the team’s need to adapt to Westampton Tech’s physical style of play.
“I think we calmed down on the ball and we started to think faster,” Brennan stated after the game. “In the first half, we tried to keep up with their physicality, which hindered our ability to operate in tight spaces.”
The breakthrough came in the 51st minute when Rosina capitalized on a corner kick that deflected off Westampton Tech’s goalkeeper Viggo Wronski. “I was just thinking ‘on frame,’” Rosina explained. “It’s just muscle memory. It just came down to it.”
However, Westampton Tech quickly equalized thanks to Tristen Dickerson’s long throw that found Youssou Diop. Diop volleyed the ball just inside the right post, bringing the score to 1-1 with 39 minutes left in the game.
Bordentown responded fiercely as Rosina netted his second goal with just over five minutes remaining, pushing the Scotties back into the lead. “The clock was running down and we needed it,” Rosina said.
Tyler Kunkel added to the score just two minutes later, securing the 3-1 victory with his 13th goal of the season. “I just stayed calm, looked at the goal, and took a shot. It went in,” Kunkel remarked, highlighting the team’s determination and resilience.
Westampton Tech, champions of the BCSL Freedom Division, fell to a record of 13-4. Coach Shane Lesher acknowledged his team’s growth, stating, “They believe in themselves and want to win. We schedule games like this to set a standard for the program.”
Bordentown’s victory marks a significant moment in high school soccer, demonstrating their skill and tenacity as they continue to lead the BCSL Patriot Division. As the season progresses, all eyes will be on Bordentown as they aim for further success.
