Danielle Deadwyler, Alfred Molina Join A24’s Urgent Drama ‘The Chaperones’

BREAKING: The cast of A24’s highly anticipated drama The Chaperones expands as Danielle Deadwyler, Alfred Molina, Billy Barratt, Tim Meadows, and Dolly De Leon join the project. This urgent development comes as production ramps up under the direction of indie favorite India Donaldson.

The film features a gripping narrative about a drug dealer and his two slacker friends tasked with transporting a troubled teenager across the country. David Jonsson and Cooper Hoffman lead the ensemble, with Hoffman portraying an aggressive and reckless young man serving as one of the “chaperones.” Jonsson plays his cautious partner, while Paul Dano takes on the role of the drug dealer.

Barratt steps into the role of the troubled teen, while Deadwyler plays Jonsson’s sister, adding depth to the storyline. Molina, known for his extensive career, plays Hoffman’s sleazy boss, promising to deliver a captivating performance.

Filming is currently underway, with the script written by Sebastian Black. This project is produced by Plan B and Icki Eneo Arlo, the latter being associated with actor Robert Pattinson.

Deadwyler, coming off her role in the Blumhouse horror film The Woman in the Yard, has garnered attention for her performances in I Saw the TV Glow and The Piano Lesson. She is represented by Paradigm Talent Agency and others. Barratt recently appeared in A24’s horror film Bring Her Back and is also featured in Apple TV’s Invasion.

Molina, a veteran actor known for his role in Spider-Man 2, has recently appeared in The Instigators alongside Matt Damon and Casey Affleck. He is repped by Lou Coulson Associates and Anonymous Content. Meadows, featured in DC Studios show Peacemaker, is also one of the stars of CBS’s DMV. De Leon, who dazzled audiences in Triangle of Sadness, is represented by Gersh and others.
