DoorDash Driver Arrested After Filming Naked Man in NY Home
UPDATE: A 23-year-old DoorDash driver has been arrested in Oswego, New York, after filming a naked man in a private home, believing she was witnessing a sexual assault. The incident, which unfolded late last month, has sparked outrage and heated discussions on social media.
On that day, Olivia Henderson arrived at a customer’s house to find the front door ajar and a man lying unconscious on the couch, naked from the waist down. Feeling threatened, Henderson recorded the scene from outside and shared the video on TikTok, framing her experience as a form of sexual assault.
Henderson’s video quickly gained traction, with many viewers sympathizing with her plight. She expressed her anger, stating, “I WAS WORKING!” and criticized both the Oswego police and DoorDash for their perceived inaction. Her emotional posts highlighted a growing frustration with the treatment of delivery drivers and the fear of harassment they face.
However, as the social media storm escalated, DoorDash responded by clarifying their policies. The company emphasized that they do not deactivate drivers for reporting sexual assault but will suspend accounts if drivers film customers in private settings. Both Henderson and the customer had their accounts frozen during the investigation.
Authorities investigated the situation and concluded that the naked man was not a predator but rather an intoxicated individual who had simply passed out. The police clarified that his actions did not constitute a crime or sexual assault, instead attributing the chaos to a series of poor decisions.
In a surprising turn, Henderson was arrested and charged with two felonies: unlawful surveillance and dissemination of an unlawful surveillance image. She has since been released pending her court date and has ceased posting updates on TikTok regarding the incident.
This case raises significant questions about privacy, the responsibilities of delivery drivers, and the implications of sharing sensitive content online. As the legal proceedings unfold, many are left to ponder the balance between personal safety and the rights of individuals captured in private spaces.
