Fairview Football Dominates Arapahoe 78-28 in Playoff Showdown
URGENT UPDATE: Fairview football delivered a stunning performance, crushing Arapahoe 78-28 in the Class 5A second round playoff at Recht Field on November 14, 2025. This decisive victory marks a significant turnaround for the Knights, who faced skepticism due to a lighter regular-season schedule.
The game started with a tight first quarter, ending 21-15 in favor of Arapahoe. However, Fairview quickly took control, propelled by junior quarterback Ki Ellison and senior wide receiver Sabi Ruttgers, who combined for an astonishing eleven touchdowns.
Ellison showcased his dual-threat capabilities, passing for 311 yards and rushing for an additional 115 yards. Ruttgers, with 244 yards of total offense, stated, “I always knew I was good, but this honestly proved it to myself and honestly the state too. Everyone was told it’d be a real close game, and we came out here and mercy-ruled them. It’s insane.”
The Knights’ offensive onslaught continued as senior standout Toray Davis contributed three touchdowns, while teammates Asher Allen and Ryan Rutherford each added a score. The first half concluded with Fairview holding a commanding lead, despite a brief scare when Arapahoe capitalized on a fumble.
“We have great respect for Arapahoe,” head coach Tom McCartney remarked, acknowledging the Warriors’ tough competition in the Centennial League. “They were obviously No. 9 in the state, and competing against them was a top-10 matchup.”
Defensively, Fairview was just as formidable. They blocked a punt that led to a 16-yard touchdown pass to Davis and forced turnovers, including an interception by Ellison just before halftime. “I knew my moment was coming,” Ellison reflected. “I was excited…I can go both ways.”
With this emphatic win, the Knights advance to face No. 1 Cherry Creek next week at Stutler Bowl. Fairview’s explosive performance has raised eyebrows across the state, showing that they are a serious contender regardless of their regular-season schedule.
The game highlighted the Knights’ hunger for victory and their desire to prove themselves against top-tier teams. Expect anticipation to build as they prepare for their next challenge against Cherry Creek, a powerhouse known for its competitive edge.
