URGENT UPDATE: As Thanksgiving approaches, Fight2Feed, a dedicated food rescue organization in Chicago, is amplifying its call for volunteers to combat hunger this holiday season. The nonprofit is ramping up initiatives to ensure that no one in the community goes hungry.

Founded on March 20, 2014, Fight2Feed has made a significant impact by saving unused, uncooked, and prepared food from restaurants, grocery stores, and major conventions. The organization is entirely volunteer-driven, distributing meals from its headquarters to community partners across Chicago and three surrounding counties: Will, DuPage, and Lake County.

Since its inception, Fight2Feed has served over 2 million meals and rescued more than 6 million pounds of food that would have otherwise gone to waste. This holiday season, they aim to expand their efforts, calling for immediate volunteer support specifically on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM.

“We hope to feed thousands of people and ensure that no one goes hungry,” a representative from Fight2Feed stated.

This initiative is especially crucial as the holiday season often sees a heightened need for food assistance. Fight2Feed partners with local nonprofits that provide food, shelter, and resources to the unhoused, under-resourced, and immigrant communities. The organization encourages anyone looking to make a difference to step forward during this critical time.

To volunteer or donate, visit their website at https://fight2feed.org/#volunteer-signup. Every contribution counts towards making a tangible difference in the fight against hunger in our communities.

The urgency of this call to action cannot be overstated. As the holiday season draws near, the need for support is greater than ever. Join Fight2Feed in their mission to create real change, one block at a time.

Stay tuned for further updates as Fight2Feed works tirelessly to feed those in need this Thanksgiving.
