Gerald R. Cote, Former GE VP, Passes Away at 85 Years Old
BREAKING NEWS: Gerald R. Cote, a prominent former Vice President of the General Electric Company, has passed away at the age of 85. Cote died on November 12, 2023, leaving behind a legacy marked by his remarkable career and dedication to family.
Cote, born in Derry, NH on July 21, 1940, was the son of Rene and Germaine Cote. He graduated from Pinkerton High School and later earned an engineering degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Following his graduation, Cote dedicated over 30 years to GE, where he held various managerial roles across multiple locations, ultimately rising to the rank of Vice President in both Louisville, KY and Schenectady, NY.
Cote’s personal life was equally rich. He married his beloved wife, Sally, in July 1963. Together, they shared many joyous years until her passing. Cote was not only a devoted husband but also a passionate father, who cherished coaching his late son, Brian, during little league and high school baseball.
Later in life, Cote discovered a love for golf, which became a significant part of his routine, allowing him to compete and enjoy time with friends and family. He was a fervent fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots, ensuring he never missed a game.
Gerald R. Cote is survived by his two sons, Andrew (Sydney) and Christopher (Julia), along with two great-grandchildren, Sunday and Archer, who brought him immense joy during his later years.
In accordance with Cote’s wishes, there will be no service held. However, memorial contributions can be made in his name to The Foundation for Ellis Hospital, located at 1101 Nott Street, Schenectady, NY 12308.
This loss resonates deeply in the community, as Cote’s impact as a leader and family man will be remembered by many. As news of his passing spreads, tributes are expected to pour in from colleagues and friends who admired his contributions both professionally and personally.
