URGENT UPDATE: Gold’s Gym has officially exited Southern California, selling all 23 locations to EōS Fitness, effective October 29, 2023. The only location staying under Gold’s ownership is the original gym in Venice Beach, where the brand first launched nearly 60 years ago.

In a recent email to members, EōS Fitness confirmed that the transition will be “seamless,” allowing members to continue using their gyms without disruption. EōS operates over 200 gyms across seven states, and this acquisition expands their network significantly.

EōS Fitness emphasized its commitment to maintaining high-quality facilities and innovative fitness options during the transition, promising to uphold the legacy of Gold’s Gym. “Our priority is to ensure your workouts stay uninterrupted while we provide best-in-class gyms,” the company stated.

This transition marks the end of an era for Gold’s Gym, a brand synonymous with Southern California’s fitness culture. The gym has attracted bodybuilders, athletes, and celebrities, contributing to what many consider the “Mecca of Bodybuilding.”

According to WeHo Times, a spokesperson for Gold’s Gym indicated that the decision to sell was a “carefully made decision” after years of building a strong community. EōS Fitness was chosen to honor this legacy, with CEO Rich Drengberg having previously spent over 15 years at Gold’s Gym SoCal during his career.

New signage has already been installed at former Gold’s locations, including in Hollywood, where banners declare, “Gold’s Gym SoCal has flexed its last rep. Welcome to EōS Fitness. Same sweat. New swagger.”

As the transition unfolds, members will experience little to no disruption in their fitness routines. The Venice location, often referred to as the heart of the bodybuilding culture, will remain with Gold’s Gym, preserving its storied heritage.

Stay tuned for more updates as this story develops and the impacts of this significant change unfold across the region.
