MAGA Outrage: GOP Senator Rejects Trump Over Slur, Calls for Primary
URGENT UPDATE: Tempers flare in the GOP as MAGA supporters lash out at Republican State Senator Michael Bohacek after he publicly announced his opposition to the party’s redistricting plan. The senator’s decision comes in response to Donald Trump‘s controversial Thanksgiving post where he referred to Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as “seriously r—–ed.”
Bohacek, representing a solidly Republican district, declared on Facebook that he would vote “no” on the state’s 2026 redistricting package, emphasizing that “words have consequences.” This statement has ignited a firestorm within the MAGA community, particularly due to Bohacek’s personal connection to the issue—his daughter has Down Syndrome.
The backlash was swift and fierce. Conservative media figure Eric Daugherty did not hold back, labeling Bohacek a “failure” and highlighting his past DUI incidents, stating he was caught driving three times the legal limit. Daugherty called for a primary challenge against Bohacek, declaring, “Michael Bohacek must be primaried NOW!”
Further criticism poured in from other Trump loyalists. Former U.S. Senate staffer Glory Bee suggested Bohacek should be sent “to Minnesota to be with his hero Tim Walz!” She noted that unless Bohacek resigns, he will remain in the state senate until 2028, making it difficult for his constituents to push for change.
Right-wing commentator Mike Cernovich, who boasts over 1.4 million followers, slammed Bohacek as “an alcoholic and drunk driver,” arguing that such behavior puts elected officials at risk of blackmail. “He should resign on principle,” he stated in a post.
The vitriol continued, as numerous MAGA influencers joined the outcry, branding Bohacek as a “fraud” and “disgrace.” Many mocked him by echoing Trump’s slur, underscoring the tension within the party.
This unfolding drama is not just about a single senator’s vote; it highlights the intense divisions within the Republican Party and raises questions about the future of GOP leadership in light of Trump’s enduring influence. As the redistricting process moves forward, all eyes will be on how this internal conflict affects party unity and strategy leading up to the critical election cycles ahead.
With discussions already underway about potential challengers for Bohacek’s seat, the situation remains fluid. Expect further developments as MAGA supporters rally for action against those they see as straying from Trump’s hardline stance.
