Man Arrested Following Subway Slashings Linked to Brooklyn Burglary
BREAKING: A man suspected of a series of subway slashings has been arrested in Brooklyn for a separate burglary incident. Odyssey Head, aged 27, was taken into custody early Saturday morning after allegedly breaking into a building on New York Avenue and causing significant damage.
According to police reports, Head entered the building around 5 a.m., damaging a washer and dryer and igniting clothing items before fleeing the scene. Authorities later linked him to three violent subway attacks that occurred within a 24-hour period in Flatbush, where three men were randomly slashed on the left side of their faces.
The first incident was reported on a Q train early Saturday morning. Just hours later, another victim was attacked near Foster Avenue and New York Avenue just before 10 p.m. The third attack occurred on Sunday morning at approximately 7 a.m. on Newkirk Avenue. The victims, aged 37, 53, and 56, were promptly hospitalized and are currently listed in stable condition.
At the time of his arrest, police recovered a kitchen knife from Head, which is believed to be the weapon used in the subway slashing incidents. He has not yet been formally charged in connection with the slashings but remains a prime suspect.
Head was transported to Maimonides Medical Center for a psychological evaluation following his arrest. Authorities are continuing to investigate the incidents, and further charges may be pending as the case develops.
This alarming series of attacks has raised concerns among residents and commuters in the area, highlighting ongoing safety issues in public transportation. Community leaders are urging for increased security measures to protect citizens as investigations continue.
