Molly Ratermann’s Horror-Comedy ‘Making a Bridesmaid’ Wraps Up Post-Production
UPDATE: Director Molly Ratermann has just confirmed that her feature debut, the comedy-horror film “Making a Bridesmaid,” has officially wrapped post-production and is set for a festival run in 2026. This exciting news comes as Ratermann aims to blend humor with horror in a film that promises to resonate with audiences.
The film, described as a mix of “Bodies Bodies Bodies” and “Bridesmaids,” satirizes the intense pressure women face in a competitive social landscape. Shot on location in Lake Tahoe, California, “Making a Bridesmaid” follows two outcast sisters, portrayed by Emily Kincaid and Ratermann herself, who embark on what begins as a typical bachelorette weekend but quickly spirals into a deadly game for survival.
Ratermann elaborated on her vision, stating, “‘Making A Bridesmaid’ is a wild, fun ride that digs into fakeness, identity, and rivalry, even as women keep reaching for solidarity.” The film aims to spark awareness and conversation around the complexities of female socialization while delivering both laughs and chills.
The ensemble cast features notable talents, including Serra Naiman, Wilder Yari, Alex Sgambati, and April Kelley, enhancing the film’s potential for a captivating viewing experience. The editing team is led by Sabrina Plisco, President of American Cinema Editors, marking her debut as a producer alongside David Newbert as cinematographer.
As the film is now picture-locked, further details regarding premiere plans and sales representation are expected to be announced soon, keeping fans and industry insiders on high alert. Ratermann’s unique approach aims to push boundaries while providing a platform for critical dialogue about women’s experiences in competitive environments.
Stay tuned for more updates as “Making a Bridesmaid” prepares for its anticipated festival debut, promising to captivate audiences with its blend of horror, humor, and heartfelt storytelling.
