New Salad Bar in Saginaw Offers Fresh, Made-to-Order Meals
URGENT UPDATE: A new lunch and dinner destination has just opened in downtown Saginaw, promising fresh, made-to-order meals packed with high-quality ingredients. The Salad Bar by Soul Food Sistas, launched by owner Latasha Lawson in May 2024, is now welcoming customers to its vibrant space at 203 S. Washington Ave.
Lawson, who has dedicated her “blood, sweat, and tears” to this venture, previously ran a catering company and decided to expand her culinary passion into The Salad Bar after a nudge from a friend. “I love all of my customers; I love all the community support,” she shared, emphasizing her commitment to quality and community.
The Salad Bar features a variety of fresh greens, including spring mix, romaine, and spinach, along with an array of toppings like banana peppers, onions, carrots, and even strawberries. Customers can either choose from signature salads or build their own, customizing their meal to perfection. One standout option is the Kenya Special, created in memory of Lawson’s late friend, Kenya Collins, featuring spinach, chicken, shrimp, and more.
For those looking for vegan options, The Salad Bar offers chickpeas, black beans, and vegan yogurt for smoothies. The menu also expands beyond salads, including sandwiches, wraps, and rotating soups, with the chicken and dumpling variety highly praised, using a cherished recipe from Lawson’s 87-year-old mother, Lettie Donald.
The Salad Bar is currently open on Tuesdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. featuring a specialty taco salad, and from Wednesday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Lawson encourages patrons to ask about additional items not displayed, as the selection is extensive.
Located within the SVRC Marketplace, a hub for local small businesses, Lawson is excited about the community atmosphere. “I wish more people knew about the SVRC Marketplace. It’s a great starting point for any small business,” she stated, highlighting the supportive environment for entrepreneurs.
As Saginaw residents look for healthier dining options, The Salad Bar stands out as a fresh, flavorful choice. With a focus on quality ingredients and customer satisfaction, Lawson’s venture is set to become a beloved staple in the area. Visit their Facebook page for more information and updates on daily specials and menu offerings. This is a developing story as Lawson continues to connect with her community through food and shared experiences.
