UPDATE: In a jaw-dropping revelation during last night’s game, fans at Levi’s Stadium were shocked to learn that Roger Craig, a three-time Super Bowl champion and 49ers legend, is not yet inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

The 65-year-old Craig was the guest of honor as the San Francisco 49ers faced off against the Carolina Panthers on December 10, 2023. His presence sparked a wave of disbelief among fans who could not fathom how such a pivotal player in NFL history remains unrecognized by the Hall of Fame.

Craig, a former running back who revolutionized the position in the 1980s and early 1990s, made history as the first player to surpass 1,000 rushing and 1,000 receiving yards in a single season. Drafted 49th overall by the 49ers in 1983, he played eight seasons with the team, winning all three of his Super Bowl rings with San Francisco.

As fans witnessed Craig conversing with current star Christian McCaffrey, reactions poured in on social media. Many took to X to express their disbelief: “He belongs in the HOF. You cannot speak about how versatile the RB position became without talking about Roger Craig,” one fan wrote. Another exclaimed, “Wait…what??? Roger Craig is not in the Hall. This is BS.”

“If you talked to Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, and many of the others, they would tell you that he’s certainly deserving,” said ESPN announcer Troy Aikman during the broadcast, publicly campaigning for Craig’s induction.

During the game, the 49ers defeated the Panthers 20-9, with McCaffrey impressively rushing for 89 yards and a touchdown, and catching 7 passes for 53 yards. This performance helped the Niners improve to 8-4 for the season.

Craig is currently a semi-finalist for the Hall of Fame class of 2026, and fans are rallying for his induction. “One of the biggest jokes in the world is him not ALREADY being in the HOF,” another supporter declared.

As the conversation around Craig’s legacy grows, the urgency for his inclusion in the Hall of Fame becomes more apparent. Fans, analysts, and former players alike are demanding recognition for a player who truly set the standard for future generations. With the NFL community rallying behind him, the hope is that Craig will finally receive the honor he deserves.

Stay tuned for further developments regarding Roger Craig’s Hall of Fame candidacy as the 2026 class approaches.
