Racine’s Festival of Trees Returns This Weekend, Supporting Local Nonprofits
UPDATE: The beloved Festival of Trees is making a triumphant return to Racine this weekend after more than a decade-long hiatus, bringing over 40 decorated trees to Festival Hall. This festive event is set to kick off on December 2, 2023, and will not only revive a cherished community tradition but also support local nonprofits.
After nearly two decades of joyful celebration, the festival’s absence left a void in the holiday spirit of Racine. Local business leaders and community members are buzzing with excitement as they prepare to welcome back this iconic event. “I missed it so much. It’s always been almost like a part of my life this time of the year,” said Dan Reisdorf of Milaeger’s.
The return of the Festival of Trees is more than just a nostalgic event; it promises to unite families and friends in a celebration of community spirit. “It has been historically one of the best events, I think, we’ve had in Racine,” noted Robert Felle of Felle & Associates, reflecting on the festival’s lasting impact.
Each tree is uniquely sponsored and decorated by various community members and local businesses, showcasing diverse themes that celebrate Racine’s rich culture—from the Grinch to local bars and the farmers’ market. Attendees will have the chance to win these beautifully adorned trees through raffles, taking home both the tree and its festive decorations.
Dawn Carrillo of the Racine Farmers Market emphasized the festival’s dual benefits, calling it a “win-win” for the community. “What a great opportunity to be part of it,” she said, highlighting the event’s role in promoting local businesses while also benefiting those in need.
The festival opens its doors to the public on Saturday, December 2, allowing the community to gather and celebrate the holiday season together. Local leaders such as Wendy Coey from the City of Racine Tavern League expressed enthusiasm about the festival’s return, stating, “I just think it brings a lot of people together.”
As anticipation builds, the Festival of Trees serves as a reminder of the joy and connection that the holiday season can bring. With local businesses rallying to support this event, the festival is set to flourish and grow in the coming years.
